
Rhys Chatham is a key figure of the New York No Wave and downtown music scene, currently based in Paris. His work explores the intersection of minimalism, rock and experimental music, often through large ensembles of electric guitars. Guitar Trio is one of his most iconic pieces: a powerful and immersive work for multiple electric guitars, built on repetition, overtones and extreme volume. Marking Chatham’s first ever performance in Iceland, the piece will be performed at Tónabíó by an ensemble of 11 guitarists and a drummer from the Reykjavík experimental scene, creating a dense and physical sonic experience.
